JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man was found fatally shot and a teen beaten on Johns Island Wednesday night.
Deputies say they responded to the area of 3480 Cynthia Avenue at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday to find a black Mercedes had collided with a white pickup truck. Deputies said the driver in the Mercedes was found slumped over the wheel with an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to MUSC, where he died a short time later. The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 20-year-old Kadeem Chambers.
Officials also said Chambers had a 17-year-old brother who was beaten during the incident. He is being treated for injuries at MUSC, deputies said.
The 17 year old told deputies that he and his brother got lost during their travels and ended up being shot at. The teenager said he then called the sheriff's office.
"This is scary, you kidding me? My heart's beating just talking about it," said Tamara Polk, who lives down the street from where the shooting happened.
Deputies say no suspects have been identified.
Anyone with knowledge or information regarding this incident is asked to call the Charleston County Sheriff's Office at (843) 202-1700 or Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111.
