NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Investigators arrested a 22-year-old woman after police officers say they found bags of marijuana, scales and a stolen gun in an apartment in North Charleston.

The North Charleston Police Department charged Kenedra Carter with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a stolen pistol.

On Wednesday afternoon, a police officer was in the area of Ross and Nelson streets and heard loud music coming from a car. The officer said he saw a man, later identified as 22-year-old Damond Quintell Daniels, acting suspicious behind an apartment on Nelson Street.

The officer said he then approached Daniels who said he didn't live in the neighborhood and that he was waiting for one of his friends who he said would be back in five minutes. According to a police report, Daniels grew increasingly nervous and uncooperative. Police say Daniels' friend never appeared and arrested Daniels for loud music and trespassing.

The officer then investigated the rear of the apartment where Daniels was spotted. The officer said he detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from an unsecured apartment and called in for a search warrant. Police say the officer then entered the apartment to secure it and noticed quantities of marijuana in plain view.

When the search warrant was executed on the apartment, investigators say they found 23 plastic bags of marijuana in a bedroom closet, three plastic bags of marijuana in a kitchen drawer, a black digital scale, a silver digital scale and a pistol which was reported stolen from Mount Pleasant.

The owner of the apartment, Kenedra Carter, told officers that a man named Damon had the only other key to the apartment who she said did not live at the apartment. She also said that the marijuana in the home belonged to Damon.

Carter told officers that she was unaware of the stolen pistol in her home. Police say she became uncooperative with officers and refused to write a statement. She was then arrested for the drugs and the stolen weapon.
