4 arrested after drugs, gun found in home near school

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Four people are facing a laundry list of drug charges after North Charleston police discovered drugs and and a gun in a home near Fort Dorchester High School.

North Charleston Police Department officers were dispatched to 8424 East Saddlebrook Drive on Monday night after receiving a tip that 22-year-old Jonathan Monzell Linen, a wanted man, was staying there. When they arrived, officers said they immediately noticed the strong odor of marijuana.

Police say 43-year-old Alma Jean Brown answered the door and let the officers in after they inquired about the smell. Once inside, officers found Linen, but heard someone in the bathroom.

Police said Brown told them it was her son, 20-year-old Carlos Elmore Gleen, in the bathroom. When he exited the bathroom, officers lifted the toilet lid to find bags of marijuana, cocaine, and cocaine base.

Officers then intitiated a full search of the house where they found a pistol, bullets, partially-smoked marijuana cigarettes, a digital scale, and otehr plastic bags with white powder residue.

In all, over 10 grams of crack cocaine, almost 3 grams of cocaine, and over 58 grams of marijuana were seized.

Linen, Brown, and Glenn were arrested along with another resident, 40-year-old Ira Darmy Brown.

All of them were charged with trafficking in cocaine base, possession with intent to distribute cocaine base within 1/2 mile of a school, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine within 1/2 mile of a school, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana within 1/2 mile of a school.

Glenn and Linen were also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

All suspects were taken to the Dorchester County Detention Center.
