NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say an armed robbery suspect is in critical condition after the man he was robbing shot him at an apartment complex in North Charleston Tuesday afternoon.
North Charleston Police Department officials say the victim was at the Greentree North Apartments complex to pick up someone when he was approached by the suspect who demanded money.
According to investigators, the suspect then hit the victim across the head with his gun and took the victim's belongings. Police say the suspect began to walk off then the victim then took out his gun and shot the suspect.
Investigators say two more suspects then appeared and began to shoot at the victim. The two suspects then drove to Fairwind Drive where they wrecked their car in front of an apartment complex.
"The passenger of the car ran into an unlocked apartment. The driver was arrested then police were able to arrest the passenger as well," said Spencer Pryor, North Charleston Police Public Information Officer.
The suspect who was shot is in serious condition at MUSC. Police say the armed robbery victim is fine.
Neither the suspects' or the victim's names have been released.
