NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston Police are looking for 38-year-old Tonya Bennett. Bennett is wanted on three counts of forgery.
"The lady she was living with stole her checkbook, credit cards," said North Charleston Police Detective Jason Monroe. "She was actually staying there as a caregiver for the lady's mother, who was very ill at the time."
Monroe said Bennett and her friend soon had a falling out and Bennett moved out of the house.
"When she left, she noticed some things were odd, goes and does an audit of her bank accounts."
Monroe said Bennett began to forge the victim's checks at area stores.
"Friend of the family, and she ripped them off."
Bennett also is wanted by Summerville Police and the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office. She stands 5'6" and weighs about 280 pounds.
