NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - Investigators are trying to find out who robbed a North Charleston jewelry store on Thursday afternoon.
Dorchester County sheriff's deputies say the robbery happened at Treasure Hut on Ashley Phosphate Road just before 3 p.m. when employees say a man entered the store and began asking questions about jewelry.
Employees said that as one of the clerks showed the man some gold chains, he snatched a 14K chain valued at $1529 and ran out of the store.
Deputies said a witness tried to chase him down but failed.
The robber is described as a clean-shaven white male appearing to be about 25 years old, standing 5'9" and weighing 160 pounds. Witnesses said he was wearing a dark-colored hat, a red flannel shirt over a white t-shirt, and blue jeans.
