MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say a 17-year-old girl lied about being held up just outside of Walmart in Mount Pleasant on Monday night.
Mount Pleasant Police Department has charged Cayton Dare Tweedy, of Awendaw, with filing a false police report.
According to police, Tweedy told them a black man armed with a knife approached her outside of the Walmart at The Market at Oakland and demanded her money and checkbook.
As the investigation continued, officers discovered "inconsistencies" with Tweedy's recollection of events. Eventually they figured out that Tweedy made up the whole thing.
She is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing on Wednesday.
