WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say they arrested two teens on Sunday night after they held up a Pizza Hut delivery driver outside of a Walterboro home.

Walterboro Public Safety officers responded to a residence on Ireland Hills Road after the alleged armed robbery happened around 6:20 p.m. Upon arrival, the delivery driver said that he arrived at the home to deliver a pizza, but when he knocked on the door, no one answered. When he turned to leave, the driver said a young man holding a handgun told him to turn around and put his hands on the rail of the porch.

The driver said the gunman went through his pockets, taking his keys, money, cigarettes, and cell phone before walking to his delivery car and also grabbing a pizza. The suspect then climbed into a white-colored Chevy truck which was being driven by another young man, the delivery driver said.

Witnesses in the area told authorities that they had seen the truck passing through the area several times in the past 45 minutes. They were able to provide details about the truck, which reportedly had loud exhaust and a cracked hood.

Officers located the vehicle and short time later and apprehended the driver, 19-year-old Devany Johnathan Beckett, who admitted that he had been an accomplice in the armed robbery of the Pizza Hut employee.

He also told police that 19-year-old Erique Wayne Hammond was responsible for holding up the delivery driver. Both teens were arrested.

Hammond was charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, and unlawful carrying of a pistol. Beckett was charged with accessory before the fact of a felony.
