MOUNT PLEASANT (WCSC) - Authorities arrested a man two Sundays ago after security guards saw him crash through the Dunes West security gate and threaten a 17-year-old girl with a 12-inch buck knife.
40-year-old Jason Meyer, who was also found to be in possession of testosterone and hypodermic needles, was arrested just before 12 a.m. on September 23. He is charged with failure to stop for blue lights, malicious injury to property, and 2nd-degree assault and battery.
Mt. Pleasant Police Department officers responded to the area of Dunes West Boulevard and Wando Way Plantation after security guards said they saw Meyer drive through the security gate while following the teen into the neighborhood. Guards said the man then pulled out a large knife and threatened the teen before she got back into her car and headed back towards Highway 41.
Officers arrested Meyer a short time later and found the buck knife, hypodermic needles, and a vial containing testosterone inside his truck. Meyer told cops that he was following her because he thought she was in danger. He also said he'd never met her before.
The teen told cops that Meyer started following her when she was at the corner of Rifle Range Road and Palm Boulevard.
Meyer was taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
