5-year-old, father shot at West Ashley home

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating a double shooting at a West Ashley home around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning. It happened on the 1700 block of Pierpont Avenue. That's off Ashley River Road.

According to Charleston County deputies, a 5-year-old West Ashley girl was shot. Her father was also shot. Both were rushed to MUSC. They tell us the father is expected to be okay. No word on the child's condition.

The Charleston County Sheriff's office is on the scene trying to piece together what happened. They tell Live 5 the call came in around 1:02 a.m. Tuesday as a home invasion. The Sheriff's Office tells us the caller said shots rang out at the front door of the home. They tell us the mother and one or two additional children were home at the time of the shooting.

No suspect or vehicle description at this time.
