NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The US Highway 52 Connector is back open after a high-speed chase ended when the suspect driving the wrong way struck two other vehicles on Friday morning. North Charleston Police officers say the suspect fled from an armed robbery at a check-cashing store at North Pointe Plaza and drove the wrong way down the Highway 52 Connector. The wreck happened around 9:30 a.m., police said. The suspect was driving what appears to be a Kia Rio. A PT Cruiser was one of the vehicles involved in the crash. The suspect, who was injured during the crash, has been apprehended and taken to an area hospital. The suspect is charged with armed robbery, carrying a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and failure to stop for blue lights. No word yet on the conditions of the other victims involved in the crash.
