NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Authorities have arrested an uncle and his nephew after 8 lbs of marijuana worth more than $34,000 were seized on Wednesday.

The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office charged 54-year-old Jeffrey Brooks and his nephew, 21-year-old Jerod Brooks, with possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Brooks is also charged with evading arrest.

An incident report states that an ongoing investigation led to a traffic stop in North Charleston where Brooks was arrested when 2 lbs. of marijuana was found in his possession.

When a search warrant was executed at his home in Bonneau another suspect, Brooks, fled from the house on foot but turned himself in to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office on Thursday, according to authorities.

In the search of the residence, deputies say they found another 6 lbs. of marijuana, $10,000 in US currency along with several guns and drug paraphernalia.

The Berkeley County Drug Enforcement Unit, along with the North Charleston Drug Unit conducted the joint operation in North Charleston and Bonneau.
