Citizens offering $6k for information for worker who was shot

WALTERBORO, SC - Crime Stoppers is teaming up with a group of concerned citizens to offer an additional $6,000 reward for information regarding a shooting that left a construction worker shot in the head.

The victim told deputies someone came up from behind and shot him three times in the head and shoulder on July 16. The victim is currently in stable condition and recovering from his injuries.

In addition to the normal Crime Stoppers reward of up to $1000, a group of concerned citizens is offering a reward of $6,000 to be administered by Crime Stoppers.

The reward is offered to any person who plays a significant role in providing information to Crime Stoppers that leads to an arrest in this crime.

The public is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers if they, or someone they know, have any information regarding this, or any other crimes, by phone at 554-1111 or 1-888-CRIME-SC (1-888-274-6372), or on the web at www.5541111.com.

Texters can send anonymous tips to CRIMES (274637), and mark the beginning of the message with "CSL." All contact with Crime Stoppers remains anonymous.

The shooting happened at a construction site on Green Pond Highway, according to the Colleton County Sheriff's Office. The 64-year-old victim, an employee of Hiers Construction Company, called 911 around 4:43 a.m. after being shot.

Bullets struck the victim in the shoulder and head area according to Colleton County Sheriff George A. Malone. He was transported by Colleton County Fire and Rescue workers to Colleton Regional Hospital, and was then flown to a medical facility in the Charleston area.

The suspect is described as a slender, light-skinned male standing around 5'6" to 6'.
