MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Housekeeping staff members at the Red Roof Inn on Johnnie Dodds Boulevard were startled last week when they entered a room and saw that someone had used blood to write a message on the wall.
According to an incident report from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, employees saw the words "HELP ME POLICE PLEASE" written in blood next to the door to room 152 last Thursday.
Police said that blood streaks were also found near the writing and blood was also found in the linens. Officers spoke with the front desk and discovered that the woman staying in that room was from Horry County, and that she had a history of this kind of behavior.
Members of the Horry County Sheriff's Office said the 51-year-old woman was known to display that type of behavior.
Police issued a missing persons report, but the woman showed up to the hotel later that day, and told police that she wasn't suicidal, but cut herself as a coping mechanism for distress from a bad childhood.
Police later decided to charge the woman with a town ordinance for interference with officers and employees. However, when they arrived at the hotel to serve the warrants the woman had already checked out.
