ST. GEORGE, SC (WCSC) - Authorities are looking for a man and a woman who allegedly robbed a vacationer at a Comfort Inn in St. George on Saturday night.
Officers with the St. George Police Department responded to the hotel off Badham Drive around 9:20 p.m. after a woman reported being forcefully robbed in the parking lot.
When police arrived at the scene, the victim said that she was smoking a cigarette outside her hotel room when a man came up behind her and grabbed her purse. The woman said she tried to hold onto it but the assailant hit her in the face and knocked her to the ground.
The victim said that after the robber secured the purse, he jumped into a car that was being driven by a woman who appeared to be in her mid to late 20s.
The robber is described as a black male in his mid to late 20s, standing about 6'2" and weighing about 180 pounds. The victim said he was wearing a light-colored short-sleeved shirt and light-colored pants.
The incident report states that the suspects made away with $1,000 in cash. This investigation is ongoing.
