SUMMERVILLE, SC - One person was shot in a Summerville neighborhood Thursday morning and two schools that were placed on lockdown have now been taken off lockdown.
Police say the victim was shot in the South Main Mobile Home Park on Greenwave Boulevard around 10:30 a.m. The victim then drove several streets over, knocked on someone's door and had them call 911.
The shooting happened near a Summerville school and as a result, Summerville High School and Gregg Middle School were placed on lockdown as a precaution. They have since been taken off lockdown.
According to Summerville police, two men got into altercation and one pulled out a gun and fired at the other man as he tried to get into a car. The victim was shot at least twice. The shooting victim was transported by ambulance to MUSC.
The shooter is still on the loose, which is why the two schools were locked down temporarily. The suspect is described as a black male with dread locks who was wearing a white shirt.
