WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say Charleston Police Chief Greg Mullen's house was burglarized just as his wife was arriving home in West Ashley.
Investigators say officers responded to Chief Mullen's home around 3:45 p.m. on Friday in reference to a burglary in progress.
Chief Mullen's wife says as she was driving around the traffic circle in front of another home, she saw a man running away from the rear of her home into a wooded area.
Mullen then pulled into her home driveway and heard the house alarm going off. When she went inside her house to let her dog out, she saw that the back kitchen window was broken out.
She immediately left her home and called 911.
A police report states that $1,000 worth of office equipment was missing from the home.
Police describe the suspect as a white man between 16 to 25 years old, light brown medium length hair, slender build, wearing knee length blue/white plaid shorts and a dark colored sleeve shirt.
