ORANGEBURG, SC - Two elderly tourists from Pennsylvania were robbed at gunpoint in their first floor room at the Hampton Inn on U.S. 601 in Orangeburg County Thursday night.
According to Orangeburg County authorities, a man and a woman broke into the room of the two unnamed victims – both in their early 80s or late 70s – and, after confining them for “a period of time,” took $750, a cell phone and the couple’s 2010 Chevy Equinox.
Jessica Darn Brown, 22, was arrested last night at the home she shares with the other suspect, Vincent Lee Carson, 43, who is still being sought, Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Keisa Peterson said. Brown has been charged with armed robbery, burglary, and kidnapping.
The Pennsylvania couple’s car was equipped with the ONSTAR security system. This allowed authorities to locate it not far from the hotel Thursday night, Peterson said. The keys and cell phone were recovered at the suspects’ home at the time of Brown’s arrest.
