EUTAWVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Orangeburg County sheriff's deputies have identified the man accused of shooting a 21-year-old woman in the face Sunday night.
Deputies say that Marquel Joel Gadson, 42, along with two other individuals approached a car carrying the victim and two friends as they were leaving the horse track in Eutawville. Gadson fired his pistol as he was struggling with the victim, shooting her in the face.
The victim, a Lexington County native, was flown to MUSC. Her current condition is unknown.
The other people in the car then handed over their winnings from the track, and Gadson and the two accomplices fled the scene.
Gadson was identified out of a photo line-up by a witness.
