FAIRFIELD COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Deputies have arrested seven gang members in connection with a home invasion that left a 64-year-old Blair man dead over the weekend. Now investigators say they're looking for an eighth suspect.

The Fairfield County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday afternoon that the seven men, including a 16-year-old, have been charged in the death of Leon Wright. Deputies are looking for an eighth man, Demonta Ruff, who will be charged with murder, attempted armed robbery and conspiracy.

Wright's sister found his body inside his home on Sunday morning. Chief Deputy Keith Lewis said Wright was killed sometime late Saturday night after closing up his nearby business for the night.

Deputies said the group's intention was to rob a drug dealer in the parking lot of Wright's store, but the intended victim did not show up Saturday night. The suspects then saw Wright leave the store and followed him home, investigators said.

The suspects parked their vehicle close to Wright's home and several of them kicked in the door of the house between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m. to rob him, according to investigators.

As the men were fleeing the home, they shot and killed Wright, deputies said. There is no evidence that the men got away with any of Wright's property.

The seven suspects are being held in jail awaiting bond hearings. Four of the suspects were arrested in Newberry County and three were arrested in Fairfield County. The juvenile is being held in DJJ. Three of the suspects are expected to go face a Fairfield County judge Wednesday night.

If you know anything about this incident or Ruff's whereabouts, you are urged to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
