NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - A North Charleston man is in jail after he was found hiding under his home after he allegedly stole copper wire from a telephone pole.
Around 11 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to South Rhett and Rugheimer Avenues after receiving a complaint that someone was stealing copper from a telephone pole.
The witness led North Charleston police to the suspect's home where they found 48-year-old Allen Fletcher hiding under his house.
Fletcher admitted to police he stole the wire, but returned it after realizing someone had been watching him, a police report states.
Fletcher is charged with property crime enhancement.
