MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Police are investigating the third Mt. Pleasant grocery store armed robbery in the last month.
The most recent armed robbery happened around 10 p.m. Monday. Witnesses told police that three men came into the Piggly Wiggly in Seaside Farms, just off the Isle of Palms Connector, and robbed the store at gunpoint.
One suspect has a dark revolver and a second suspect was armed with an auto Uzi.
The suspects are described as black males with skinny builds, between 20 and 25 years old. They are 5'10 to 6'0 tall. One suspect was wearing a black shirt, another a white shirt and the third was wearing a red shirt. They were all wearing dark baggy pants with bandanas covering their faces.
A witness saw the suspects heading towards Yamato's as they fled the store.
Mt. Pleasant police say that Monday's robbery is similar to two other recent grocery store robberies. The Harris Teeter store on Highway 17 was robbed June 26 and the Food Lion on Longpoint Road was robbed June 24.
