SUMMERVILLE, SC - Authorities charged an 18 year old with weapons and drug violations Thursday after responding to a fight at the Oakbrook Car Wash in Summerville.
Dorchester County Sheriff's Office spokesman Major John Garrison said deputies responded to 10016 Dorchester Road at 3:15 p.m. after receiving reports of 15 people fighting in the parking lot of the car wash.
Upon arrival, deputies said they saw two men wrestling in the driveway of the business. One of the men told officers that the teen had a gun. The deputy helped secure the teen and discovered that he was carrying a 9 mm handgun in the back of his pants.
After removing the handgun, officers also found that the suspect, 18-year-old Kendall Omar Jones, was also carrying about 19 grams of marijuana in his front pocket.
Ralph McClenney, the manager of the car wash, says the incident began after he fired two female employees earlier in the day. McClenney says that the fired employees had an ongoing dispute with another female worker at the carwash.
The manager says that a while later the two females returned to the property with Jones and with two other women, and that when they arrived, a fight broke out
Deputies arrived shortly after and arrested Jones. He is being held in the St. George Jail, authorities say.
