CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Officials with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office are looking for a suspect involved in a sexual assault and carjacking that happened in West Ashley on Monday afternoon.
A spokesman with the Sheriff's Office said the incident happened at around 3 p.m. when a black male forced his way into a car at West Ashley Primary Care at West Ashley Medical Center.
The victim told officials the man made her drive to an abandoned house on Sunnyvale Avenue, where he assaulted her and then took her car.
The car was later recovered near the Walmart store in the area on Ashley Crossing Drive.
The suspect is described as approximately 5-foot-8 with a medium build. Officials say he is balding, has a scruffy beard and gaps between his front teeth. He was last seen wearing a red t-shirt, on foot, in the area of West Ashley Primary Care.
The victim was transported to a local hospital.
