NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police in North Charleston are looking for two men wanted for invading a woman's home and holding her at knifepoint in the Coosaw Creek community.
According to the police report, the 55-year-old victim residing in the 8700 block of Herons Walk first heard her door bell ring early Monday morning. When the victim's dog began to bark, she looked around the house, walked to the back porch, and closed and latched screen door.
She got back in bed until she heard the door bell ring twice in the next 30 minutes. At this point, the victim said she thought about calling police when she heard a loud noise from the rear of the house.
The victim said she walked into the hallway to find two men coming inside her home. The resident said she then tried to hide in her closet, but was spotted by one of the robbers, who told her to get back in bed.
The victim told police that one of the men was holding a blade and asked her for money. The victim said she retrieved $20 from the kitchen, gave it to the perpetrators, and fled to a neighbor's home to call police while they counted the money.
A neighbor told officers that he actually tackled one of the men after catching him in his backyard bushes around 1 a.m.
That witness told police that he had a firm hold on one of the men, but was threatened at knifepoint and released him. The witness also said that the men ran towards the Coosaw Creek Golf Course.
Police recovered a knife from the back porch of the female victim's home. They also saw that a large hole had been cut in the screen door.
The suspects are described as black males in their 20s, standing about 5'11" with a regular build and 5'8" with a thin build.
