CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is actively pursuing a shooting suspect who just got out of jail and has shot one of his family members.

Authorities say they are looking for 40-year-old Ronald David Ratliff. Deputies say around 6:40 p.m. on Debbenshire Drive in West Ashley, Ratliff shot his 66 year-old mother-in-law who was visiting from out of town. She has been transported to an local area hospital and is being treated for life threatening injuries.

Charleston County Deputies say Ratliff was last seen driving a white 2000 model Ford Van with South Carolina tag EPP-250. The van may have Dallas Cowboys stickers on the windows and vanity Cowboys license plate.

Ratliff stands 5 foot 10 inches tall and roughly weights 210 pounds. He has scars on his neck and tattoos on his back, shoulders and upper right arm. Deputies say he's armed with a small caliber handgun that he used in the shooting and he has a history of assault and drugs.

Deputies believe Ratliff may be heading to Pensacola, FL.

Authorities say Ratliff was released Tuesday, January 18th, from the Charleston County Detention Center. It is not currently known what he was being held for.

Police urge caution since Ratliff is considered armed and dangerous.
