JAMES ISLAND, SC - Charleston police are looking for suspects in two armed robberies outside of a Bank of America office on Folly Road.

The first armed robbery took place about 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2010 near the ATM machine at the branch office at 540 Folly Road, said Charles Francis, police public information officer.

The robber produced a handgun covered with a blue cloth, approached a woman who was in her car near the ATM and demanded money. The victim replied that she had no money having already made the deposit.

The suspect attempted to make entry into the vehicle, but the doors were locked.

The victim then gave the suspect a twenty dollar bill that she had in the console and the suspect fled the area by jumping a fence next to the Quarterdeck Apartments.

No one was injured.

The robber was described as a black man 5' 6" tall with a mustache wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt covering most of his face and dark coveralls.

The second incident took place at the same location the following day on Friday, November 12, 2010. At about 9:10 p.m., two men approached a woman who had made a withdrawal from the ATM at the Bank of America branch office on Folly Road.

At least one of the men was armed with a handgun.

The men demanded that the woman turn over her cash and cell phone, and she gave them her phone and an undetermined amount of cash, Francis said.

The robbers ran away on foot. They were described only as black men, wearing dark clothing and ski masks, Francis said.

Surveilence images from the second robbery are provided to the right.
