CHARLESTON, SC - A 39-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured late Thursday, October 21, 2010 when he was struck by a vehicle on the James Island connector, Charleston police said.
Glenn Evan Orange of 61 Vanderhorst St. in Charleston was taken to Medical University Hospital, his condition was described as serious.
He was riding on the left-hand side of the lanes going toward Folly Road about 11:30 p.m., about one-tenth of a mile before the Harborview Road exit, when he was hit, according to an incident report.
A driver who stopped at the scene told police he'd struck the bicycle after it already had been knocked down, apparently by another driver.
Charleston Police are looking for a white Ford van, possibly a Ford Econoline, year series 2000-2005. The van was possibly occupied by a group of females.
