CHARLESTON, SC - In the early morning hours of September 21, 2010, Charleston Police answered a call of possible gunshots being heard in the area of Amherst Street and Hanover Street.
Upon arrival officers found the John Jenkins, a 67 years old African American lying on the sidewalk in the vicinity of 18 Hanover Street. Jenkins was known to area residents of the area as Lama. Charleston Fire Department and EMS personnel gave first aid in an attempt to save Jenkins’ life.
Unfortunately, the attempts were unsuccessful and John Jenkins died at the scene.
Charleston Police continue to work this case and are requesting assistance from the public.
