NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - Two people are behind bars this morning following a narcotics investigation that yielded what police are calling an elaborate marijuana cultivation operation. On Wednesday June 2nd, an ongoing drug investigation buy North Charleston Police’s Narcotics Unit led officers to 3279 Poindexter Road in the Pepperhill subdivision. During the service of a search warrant, officers located 189 marijuana plants in various stages of growth and another 343.8 grams of marijuana with a total street value of $850,000.00. Officers also located several items that were used to assist in the growth of the plants and equipment that was conducive for the growth of marijuana plants.
23 year old Earl Wright (01-27-87) and 24 year old Yolanda Amard (03-15-86), both of 3279 Poindexter Road, were arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana within ½ mile proximity of a school, manufacturing marijuana and manufacturing marijuana within ½ mile proximity of a school.
