NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - A second person has died as a result of a hit-and-run early Sunday morning in which the suspect is still on the loose.
Heather Hernandez, 25, of Summerville died Tuesday night at Trident Regional Medical Center from head injuries sustained in the crash, said Berkeley County Deputy Coroner George Oliver.
Hernandez was a passenger in a 1990 Honda that collided with a 1997 Ford pickup about 2:30 a.m. Sunday on College Park Road. The driver of the Honda, Alfredo Resendiz, 30, died Sunday.
The driver of the pickup ran away from the scene.
The Highway Patrol has identified the man as Alberto Jimenez Vasquez, Lance Cpl. Bob Beres said.
Vasquez is about 24 years old. He's about 5 feet tall and weighs about 100 pounds. He also goes by the names "Roberto" and "Alligator," Beres said.
